Fonts in a Box
Monotype Imaging’s Fonts in a Box™ technology dynamically adjusts character height to fit within fixed screen parameters. Mobile phones, for example, require that each character fit within an em square. Fonts in a Box technology adjusts characters to compensate for accents, descenders or other attributes that fall outside the text box and could be cut off when rendered on small displays. To preview this technology, select a font with “mobile” in the name, check “Fonts in a Box,” and click “Render Image”. The effect is more obvious when using certain fonts and characters. For a more noticeable effect, try using the “Zemke Hand ITC Mobile” font with the lowercase letters “j,” “g” and “y.”
